Video Korner: Ringing In The New edition

2018 has been quite a year here at The Kreation Korner. It's ending much as it started--rife with anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. But it's also been a year of epiphany, of humility. It's been a year of finding our joy, of being present in the here and now, of taking care of ourselves. In 2019, we will most certainly continue to hang by a thread materially and emotionally under the malignant mismanagement of our new landlords the Murdoch Organization. But we also predict the coming year will be one of great transformation for us. Perhaps it's a naive melody to sing, but we remain hopeful and optimistic in spite of this world's sham, drudgery, and broken dreams. This is a spirit exemplified in the following spekulative advertisement for potted meat we kreated in a shameless attempt to bring in some much-needed kapital. We extend our deepest gratitude to you for keeping interested in us and wish you nothing short of utter felicity during this planet's next trip around the Sun.

Yours in Kreation,

Poet's Korner

“Ode to Clonazepam and Earl Grey”
By Patrick M. Watson

When anxiety clutches at my chest
and panic’s close at hand
Clonazepam and Earl Grey
are here to see me through

When the world is a terror realm
with perils 'round each turn
Clonazepam and Earl Grey
are with me every step

When mind’s unmoored in fogs of fear
and I’m just ‘bout to believe it
One mill and a half and a good strong cup
return me to my self

When I'm in my body
and not my thoughts
Clonazepam tugs me back
and I, with aid of Earl Grey,
alight gently on the ground

I cannot say my gratitude
for all the peace, ebullience,
and every sigh of ease
As the world flows through
and out of me — hooray for pills and tea!

O my dear clonazepam
and dear sweet Earl Grey
Thank you for your faithfulness
and helping me be me

Disclaimer: This Ode is not intended to glamorize or promote the consumption of clonazepam and Earl Grey tea. It is merely a celebration of this specific mixture of substances that serves as a particularly effective and invigorating anti-anxiety remedy for the specific psychology and body chemistry of the poet.

Kontest Korner

Is there any better reason to kreate than simply for Kreation's sake? No, there is not. And while we know it to be a noble kause, sometimes in the day-to-day it can be, well, tedious. So a few weeks ago we thought we'd liven things up with a kreation kontest. Each kompetitor was allowed submission of one piece of original visual art to be evaluated and ranked by their peers. Surely even the most ardent Kreationists on staff would be enthralled by this good old-fashioned drama. But when it came time to judge, a lovelorn Gabe Gabriel reminded us that pitting kreator against kreator only replicates the hierarchical structures that stifle our souls. We kollectively took his kounsel to heart. Better boredom than blood lust. And now the results, expertly tabulated by Stevenson Steighmeaus Associates LLP:

Honorable Mention: Against The Grain / Hadley Daughterson

Honorable Mention: Die Milch über der Holz / GRECH

Honorable Mention: Have A Seat / Chris Peebles

Honorable Mention: There are talkers and doers--we're the latter / P. Michael Watson

Honorable Mention: The City Never Sleeps (At Night) / Philly Mike

Honorable Mention: my house, my family, a tree, my dog / Gabe Gabriel II

Honorable Mention: First Impressions / Svetlana Mendoza

Honorable Mention: BIG TEX / APEKS

Honorable Mention: Praise be to Ol' Sandy, the Sandy Man / Known Universe

Musik Korner

Whereas we are often hard at work plumbing the depths of our archives for musikal artifacts to share with our fellow kreationist, today we share a contemporary piece by yours truly, Gabe Gabriel, a.k.a. Bad Actor. Though I worked hard to obfuscate the inspiration for this song, I feel that the discerning listener will be able to intuit that this is what they call a break-up song. Shocked? Let me be clear. While it may be easy for the casual observer of this blog to elevate our more prominent kreationists as something greater than human, kreationism has always chafed against such myopic idolatry. In point of fact, this song offers an intimate glimpse into my own personal life. At the molecular level, all labels break down. There is no such thing as a "personal life," separate from one's "kreative life," itself segregated from one's "political life." Burn your idols and make angst while the heart pines:
