The Society of the Spooktacle

Ghoulish greetings to you this chilly autumn eventide. The air is laden with thick mist and suffused with the funk of rotting leaves trodden underfoot. In this sinister scene, nothing sounds more satisfying than the safety of an interior setting insulated from the specters and spirits outside. Within a familiar inside environment, one can experience the necessary emotion of fear in a controlled, structured fashion. We recommend watching a scary movie or three to accomplish this. Based on a poll of a randomly selected 2% of the Korner staff, here are the films we recommend to fill you with thrills and chills this Halloween season:

Carrie. Dir. Brian De Palma. United Artists, 1976.

Scanners. Dir. David Cronenberg. Avco-Embassy Pictures, 1981.

The Host. Dir. Bong Joon-ho. Magnolia Pictures, 2006.
